His appearance on the music scene in 2005 generated a new wave of interest in <em>sevdah<\/em> and introduced a new way of looking at the genre. He was named &#8216;a true sevdah revolutionary&#8217; (sevdalinkas.com), &#8216;the new direction in Bosnian sevdah&#8217; (fRoots), even \u2018the king of Sevdah music\u2019 (The Huffington Post).<\/p>\n<p>Born to the family of <em>sevdah<\/em> bards \u0110ulo, Zaim and Ned\u017ead Imamovi\u0107, Damir was exposed to <em>sevdah<\/em> very early on and adopted a specific perspective that later helped him chart his own course. By 2016, he recorded six albums and the last album, <em>Dvojka,<\/em> was released by world-renowned label Glitterbeat Records.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/12&#8243; basel_color_scheme=&#8221;light&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;5\/12&#8243; basel_color_scheme=&#8221;light&#8221;][vc_column_text]Marina Andree \u0160kop made an internationally awarded documentary &#8216;Sevdah&#8217; on Damir\u2019s understanding of <em>sevdah<\/em>. The importance of Damir\u2019s approach to <em>sevdah<\/em> tradition was further validated when he was selected to take part in some of the most important music festivals, such as Druga godba (Ljubljana), Balkan Trafik (Brussels), TFF (Rudolstadt) and Jazz Fest Sarajevo. He was also invited to cooperate with Jadranka Stojakovi\u0107, Vlatko Stefanovski, Bojan Zulfikarpa\u0161i\u0107, Eric Vloeimans, Greg Cohen, Derya Turkan et al.<\/p>\n<p>In cooperation with <em>saz<\/em> maker \u0106amil Metiljevi\u0107 and guitar maker Luka Zaletelj, Damir will bring the idea of a new instrument to life. This new <em>sevdah<\/em> instrument will present a combination of <em>saz<\/em> and guitar and it will be named &#8216;tambur&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of 2015, Damir\u2019s <em>sevdah<\/em> activism was crowned with a large multimedia exhibition &#8216;Sevdah, the Art of Freedom&#8217;. The exhibition presented a dynamic genre of rich history and brought together not only Damir\u2019s research, but also research of other important explorers of the genre.
