The 33rd International Folklore Festival is held in the last year of the millennium. With her program we tried to show the state of the folkloric traditions of Croats at that time. It shows the folklore heritage of Croats in Croatia and, to a lesser extent, Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are big differences in the forms and age of that heritage in some regions,
and there are different ways of its existence in the contemporary world. Today, at the end of the millennium, the number of societies that reveal, revaluate, and showcase the folklore heritage of their homeland is steadily increasing.
There is also an increasing interest in folklore music as an incentive for new artistic creativity. That’s why this year’s concert has been a part of the program of ethno music.
Special attention has been devoted to this year’s folklore of Slavonia, Srijem and Baranja. The extraordinary richness of this traditional culture will witness the performances of folklore groups and two exhibitions, costumes, handicraft workshop and concert of the church folk singing.
